From a TYPO3 Relaunch to Continuous Updates for Leica Microsystems

A long-term collaboration strengthening the brand’s global digital presence.

Client

Leica Microsystems is a global leader in microscopy and imaging solutions for healthcare, research and industry. The company is part of the Danaher Group and known for precision and scientific excellence.

Briefing

Our collaboration began with the creation of the initial UX/UI design and a comprehensive TYPO3 relaunch of the global corporate website. The goal was to create a future-proof design foundation, clear information architecture and a scalable technological system.

From this foundation, a long-term partnership emerged. Rather than repeating full relaunch cycles, we follow an evolutionary approach with continuous updates, UX/UI refreshes and strategic enhancements.

Concept & Implementation

After the initial relaunch, we moved into ongoing development — continuously refining design, content, functionality and system architecture.

Key areas of work:

  • Creation of the initial UX/UI design for the global digital presence
  • Several design refreshes to modernise and harmonise the visual brand experience
  • Regular TYPO3 updates ensuring long-term stability and performance
  • Iterative UX/UI improvements enhancing usability and clarity
  • Optimisation of navigation, information architecture and global content structures
  • Expansion of the digital ecosystem with modules such as the Objective Finder
  • Development of an interactive Vue.js-based map component
  • Initial concept & development of the ScienceLab as a knowledge-driven content marketing hub
  • Further enhancement of the ScienceLab with the “GUIDES TO” pillar page concept, including structural redesign, new content formats and targeted audience segmentation
  • Content Excellence: Ongoing optimisation of editorial quality, content logic, storytelling and knowledge architecture
  • Integration of Salesforce and Intershop via Anyrel to streamline CRM and commerce workflows
  • Ongoing SEO, performance and analytics-driven optimisation
  • Data-driven evolution based on user insights, product clusters and global market needs

The ScienceLab exemplifies our approach: originally launched as a foundational knowledge platform, later expanded and redesigned with the “GUIDES TO” concept — a clear demonstration of continuous improvement rather than disruptive rebuilds.

Result

Today, the Leica Microsystems website is a modular, scalable and continuously evolving digital platform. Design refreshes, ongoing updates and analytics-driven improvements ensure a modern, coherent and user-centric experience.

Our long-term partnership demonstrates how strategic, evolutionary enhancement creates sustainable digital value and supports a platform that grows alongside the brand.
